ICE Remote Sensing Lab

About Us

Welcome to the ICE (Ice Climate Ecosystem) Lab.

The primary interest of our research lab is the study of the interactions between ice, climate, and ecosystems.

Our team of researchers has expertise on climatology, glaciology, geophysics, computer science, and remote sensing technology. Our current members are conducting research in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, Greenland, and Antarctica. Our research focuses mainly on the study of Arctic snow and sea ice, but we are also interested in polar climatology and the geophysics of ice sheets and ice shelves. Our research is conducted using a mixture of surface, airborne, and satellite remote sensing (imaging radar, optical, LiDAR), geophysical techniques, field surveys, and metocean instruments.

We are located at the ICE Remote Sensing Lab on the University of Victoria campus on Vancouver Island. The team works closely with partners and collaborators on UK/NERC, NSERC, Canada Foundation for Innovation, and Polar Knowledge Canada funded research projects. Please see the opportunities page to find out about joining our team.
